About This Rare Car

MICHIGAN 40 final green&orange

In 1912 or 1913, Michael Fleck purchased a new MIGHTY MICHIGAN motor car, MODEL K  and brought it home to Hobart, Indiana.  The car has been in the family since then, stored in various garages and barns in Northern Indiana. In 2011, Janet Ewen Correll and her husband, Craig purchased the car from Steve Dickey of Hebron, Indiana.  Both Janet and Steve are the Great Grandchildren of Michael Fleck.  Prior to the purchase of the car by Janet & Craig Correll, Steve Dickey and his father, Phillip did some restoration work on the car during the 1960’s and 1970’s but never got it running.

We understand that only 7200 Michigan’s of any sort were ever manufactured between 1910 and 1913, and that of these only a dozen or so are known to exist. This website is devoted to documenting the process of returning this little-known car to near original operating condition.

BIG M 3You can follow our progress on restoring the car by viewing the “Restoration BLOG Posts”. We hope you will join us on this adventure — wherever it may lead us.
